Baseball Recap: Conifer Wins Going Away Against Denver East

Conifer was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They blew past the Denver East Angels 13-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lobos.

The team relied heavily on Andrew Janasiewicz, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Parker VanDuyn also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Conifer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.6.

Conifer's record is now 6-9. As for Denver East, they dropped their record down to 7-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Conifer will square off against Green Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Lobos' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Denver East, they will face off against Poudre at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Impalas have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Angels will no doubt try to take advantage of.
