Baseball Game Preview: Tarkington Longhorns vs. Hargrave Falcons

For the second straight game, Tarkington will face off against Hargrave. Tarkington will challenge Hargrave at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Tarkington fell victim to Hargrave and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to the Falcons. The Longhorns haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

For Hargrave's part, John Dolan was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. That's the fewest hits Dolan has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avry Cordell, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Bryce Nixon was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.

Hargrave is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. Tarkington's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-11-1.
