Softball Recap: Bellevue Find Success

After losing to Norwalk the last time they met, Bellevue decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Redmen came out on top against the Truckers by a score of 14-11 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Redmen.

Mallory Hay was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Payton Hicks, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Easterwood, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Bellevue always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Bellevue's record is now 7-14. As for Norwalk, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Coming up, Bellevue will head out on the road to face off against Ross at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Norwalk, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Columbian at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Truckers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tornadoes have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
