Campolindo is 10-0 against College Park since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Campolindo Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the College Park Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Campolindo took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They came out on top against St. Mary's by a score of 62-53. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Rams are ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ren Marchetti was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 17 en route to 20 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Peyton Beld, who posted eight points.
Meanwhile, after a string of nine wins, College Park's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were beaten by Ygnacio Valley 85-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Falcons have suffered since December 14, 2024.
Campolindo will have to contain Mathys Joseph as he made an impact in College Park's last game. He put up 16 points. Steven Barnett was another key player, putting up eight points.
Campolindo's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for College Park, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-8.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Campolindo and College Park are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Campolindo hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 57 points per game. However, it's not like College Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging 63 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Campolindo strolled past College Park in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 52-36. Will Campolindo repeat their success, or does College Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
