Basketball Recap: Westminster Catawba Christian Takes a Loss

Westminster Catawba Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 70-67 heartbreaker at the hands of the SouthLake Christian Academy Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Indians have suffered since November 8, 2024.

Despite the loss, Westminster Catawba Christian still got an impressive performance from Brycen Redmon, who went 9 for 18 on his way to 27 points and four steals. Nikayle Hodge was another key player, going 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points and six assists.

Westminster Catawba Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-11. As for SouthLake Christian Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-9.

Westminster Catawba Christian and SouthLake Christian Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in their respective state rankings. Westminster Catawba Christian (ranked 249th) will meet Gaston Christian (ranked 16th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, SouthLake Christian Academy (ranked 215th) will meet Gaston Day (ranked 59th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
