Soccer Game Preview: Ben Lippen vs. Porter-Gaud

The Ben Lippen Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Porter-Gaud Cyclones at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Ben Lippen sitting on three straight victories and Porter-Gaud on six.

Ben Lippen is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let John Paul II get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Eliza Boyce had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Ben Lippen.

Meanwhile, Porter-Gaud made easy work of Augusta Christian on Tuesday and carried off a 10-0 victory. Considering Porter-Gaud have won 20 matchups by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Porter-Gaud's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four games. As for Ben Lippen, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.

Ben Lippen suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Porter-Gaud in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
