Baseball Game Preview: Pelahatchie Chiefs vs. Richland Rangers

The Pelahatchie Chiefs will face off against the Richland Rangers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pelahatchie hasn't scored more than a single run for four games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Friday just wasn't the day for Pelahatchie's offense. They lost 10-0 to St. Andrew's Episcopal on Friday.

Meanwhile, Richland made easy work of Raymond on Friday and carried off a 12-6 win. Richland hasn't had any issues with Raymond recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Noah Aldridge made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Bryce Shows was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caleb Hudson, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Richland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Richland's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Pelahatchie, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16.
