Basketball Recap: Alameda Takes a Loss

Alameda lost against Village back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Alameda Pirates were dealt a 61-22 loss at the hands of the Village Mountaineers. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-11.

Carter Sterk continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Village, going 8-for-14 to rack up 20 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. With that strong performance, Sterk is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game. James Driggers was another key player, going 7-for-15 en route to 17 points and five rebounds.

Alameda has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Village, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-9.

Looking ahead, Alameda won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mitchell at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Alameda is facing Mitchell at the right time seeing as Mitchell is stuck on a 19-game losing streak. As for Village, they will face off against Elizabeth at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Village knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Elizabeth likes a good challenge.
