Volleyball Recap: Marshall Falls to Churchill in First Game of Season

Marshall unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 3-1 to the Churchill Chargers on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rams of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Marshall started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-16, 25-14, 25-19.

Arrian Spratt paced Marshall's offense, picking up 14 kills. Spratt were helped by Katarina Cervantez and Arianna Wright, who contributed five assists each. Marieme Fall controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Marshall has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Northeast Early College on the 14th. Churchill has also already played their next contest (against Providence Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
