Basketball Recap: Animas Takes a Loss

Animas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 23rd straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 48-18 defeat at the hands of the Hatch Valley Bears. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-19 back in December of 2024.

Levi Kellogg was Animas' leading scorer, having posted 11 points. Tallon Marble held things down on the boards with ten rebounds. He took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Animas' loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Hatch Valley, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-6.

Animas wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 49-23 defeat against Cloudcroft on the 11th. As for Hatch Valley, they will welcome Ruidoso at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
