Softball Recap: Hoke County Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

Hoke County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Southern Lee, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hoke County Bucks put the hurt on the Southern Lee Cavaliers with a sharp 10-0 win on Friday. Considering the Bucks have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kailey Bowman was a standout: she scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Brianna Harrell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Hoke County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Hoke County pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Southern Lee, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoke County will venture away from home to challenge Union Pines at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hoke County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Union Pines' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Southern Lee, they will head out to square off against Jordan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jordan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.4 runs per game this season.
