Forest hasn't had much luck against Buchholz recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Wildcats will square off against the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Forest is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They skirted past Oakleaf 4-3.
Forest's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brooks Kilcrease, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Ashton Drudge also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Buchholz waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Knights get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Considering the Bobcats have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Reed Thomas tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Zac Brown was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Roen Kresak was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Buchholz was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vanguard only posted a batting average of .091.
Forest's record is now 9-16. As for Buchholz, their record now sits at 17-7.
Forest suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Buchholz in their previous matchup last Tuesday. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
