Baseball Game Preview: Northland Prep Academy Spartans vs. Valley Pirates

Northland Prep Academy is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will look to defend their home field against the Valley Pirates at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Northland Prep Academy headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Red Rock let them put that streak behind them. Northland Prep Academy put the hurt on Red Rock with a sharp 18-8 win on Monday. With that victory, the Spartans brought their scoring average up to 8.4 runs per game.

Tyler Cary was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. Cary was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Dylan Stoffers was a standout: he scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also got two hits, marking his first of the season. Colson Skersick was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3.

Northland Prep Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley). They blew past St. Michael 20-9 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Valley's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Northland Prep Academy, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record.
