Recap: Desert Christian Eagles vs. Baboquivari Warriors

The Desert Christian Eagles came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 48 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 58-53 victory over Baboquivari. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, as Desert Christian did.

Desert Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyson Dobbins led the charge by scoring 24 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Dobbins hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Jonathan Brown was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

Baboquivari's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xavier Mease, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Antone, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.

Desert Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season. As for Baboquivari, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-6.

Desert Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against The Gregory School at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. The Gregory School is coming into the contest with eight straight wins on the road, so Desert Christian is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Baboquivari, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ray at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Baboquivari focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
