Softball Recap: Lake Weir Falls to Buchholz in First Game of Season

Lake Weir unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Buchholz Bobcats by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 11 in a row.

Beth Levy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. What's more, she also gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Lake Weir saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was G Weidenbacher, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Lake Weir has already played their next contest (against Belleview), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Buchholz, they will square off against Interlachen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
