Baseball Preview: Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES vs. Danville Ironmen

Mount Carmel is 8-1 against Danville since April of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES will be playing in front of their home fans against the Danville Ironmen at 4:30 p.m. The last five games Mount Carmel has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Mount Carmel will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Tamaqua, who they hadn't topped in three consecutive meetings. Mount Carmel sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Tamaqua on Friday.

Mount Carmel got a massive performance out of Gavin Lasko, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Drew Yagodzinskie, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs.

Meanwhile, Danville unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Williamsport.

Reece McCarthy was cooking despite his team's loss, going 4-for-5 with a triple, a run, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Acor, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Even though they lost, Danville didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with eight strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Williamsport only tossed three.

Mount Carmel's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-4. As for Danville, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-4.
