Baseball Recap: Bronx High School of Science Comes Up Short

Bronx High School of Science fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Washington on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 11-10. The Wolverines were not able to make up for their loss to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.

Johnathan Stern was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Bronx High School of Science is 2-1 when Stern posts two or more runs, but 0-4-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ari Goldinger, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Bronx High School of Science's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5-1. As for Washington, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Bronx High School of Science is taking a road trip to take on South Bronx at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Phoenix's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Wolverines' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Washington, they will be playing at home against Morris at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
