Basketball Recap: Landon Burleyson and Caden Ryker Secure Win for Leadership Academy

Leadership Academy won the last time they faced Cornerstone Charter and things went their way on Thursday too. The Leadership Academy Falcons took down the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals 62-48.

Leading Leadership Academy to victory were Caden Ryker and Landon Burleyson. Ryker went 9 of 19 en route to 22 points along with seven boards and six steals, while Burleyson went 9 for 22 on his way to 22 points and three steals. Ryker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Bovender, who posted three points and six assists.

Despite the loss, Cornerstone Charter saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Charles Walker went 7 of 13 en route to 17 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lake Bristol, who earned 11 points and five boards.

Leadership Academy's record now sits at 13-3. As for Cornerstone Charter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leadership Academy and Piedmont Classical will face off at 8:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Leadership Academy is facing Piedmont Classical at the right time seeing as Piedmont Classical is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cornerstone Charter, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bishop McGuinness at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop McGuinness has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 185 points over their last three contests.
