Softball Recap: Clinton Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Clinton posted their closest victory since April 12th on Wednesday. They skirted past the Brighton Bulldogs 3-1.

Ashlynn Benschoter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lydia Ormsby was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kylinn Long, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Clinton's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Brighton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-25-1.

Looking ahead, Clinton will head out on the road to square off against Onsted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brighton, they will host Perry at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
