Basketball Recap: Lytle Beats Hondo for Their Fifth Straight Win

Lytle won the last time they faced Hondo and things went their way on Friday too. The Lytle Pirates strolled past the Hondo Owls with points to spare, taking the game 62-44. The win was familiar territory for the Pirates who have now won five games in a row.

Lytle's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zacharee Perez, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 24 points and four steals. Perez's afternoon made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Pierce, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Lytle smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Lytle is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Hondo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-13.

Lytle didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-58 defeat against Eagle Pass on the 27th. As for Hondo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 76-61 victory against Luling on the 26th.
