Basketball Recap: Pembroke Pines Charter Comes Up Short

On Friday, the Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 36-31 to the Palmer Trinity Falcons.

Despite the loss, Pembroke Pines Charter still got an impressive performance from Madison Ojeda, who posted 18 points. That's the most points Ojeda has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Khaila Sprouse, who put up nine points.

Palmer Trinity's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Esparza, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards. Esparza is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Sofia Laria, who had six points in addition to eight steals and six boards.

Pembroke Pines Charter's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Palmer Trinity, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4.

Pembroke Pines Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-53 win against North Miami on the 4th. As for Palmer Trinity, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-37 defeat against Martin County on the 4th.
