Basketball Game Preview: Broome Centurions vs. Greer Middle College Blazers

The Broome Centurions will take on the Greer Middle College Blazers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Broome will be strutting in after a victory while Greer Middle College will be coming in after a loss.

Broome took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They took down Union County 60-44. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Centurions as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Broome's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Diamond Martin, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Martin has become a key player for Broome: the team is 4-2 when she posts at least eight boards, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kourtney Wofford, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Broome was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Greer Middle College lost to Woodruff at home by a 52-36 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Blazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while the Wolverines are ranked 56th).

Broome now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Greer Middle College, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Broome against Greer Middle College in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, as the team secured a 58-12 victory. Does Broome have another victory up their sleeve, or will Greer Middle College turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
