Soccer Game Preview: Concord vs. Elkhart

The Concord Minutemen will head out to take on the Elkhart Lions at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Concord sitting on three straight wins and Elkhart on 12.

On Saturday, Concord made easy work of Chesterton and carried off a 6-1 victory. Jeremy Cruz was a massive factor in the win as he booted in three goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Elkhart got the win against West Noble on Saturday by a conclusive 7-1. Considering Elkhart have won ten matchups by more than two goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Elkhart's lineup was just a bit different on Saturday as Yurem Tenopala got a bit more time on the pitch (70 vs. his season average of 34.8). Tenopala made the most of the opportunity, putting up two assists A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Concord's win bumped their record up to 11-2-1. As for Elkhart, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.

Everything went Concord's way against Elkhart when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as Concord made off with a 7-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Minutemen since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
