Basketball Recap: Jeb Harper's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Oak Mountain Academy over Hearts Academy

Oak Mountain Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hearts Academy Panthers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-41 back in November.

Oak Mountain Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jeb Harper, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 19 rebounds. With that strong performance, Harper is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Mads Koelling, who went 8 of 20 on his way to 17 points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Oak Mountain Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Hearts Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Oak Mountain Academy and St. George's will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for Hearts Academy, they will host Konos Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
