Softball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Lewiston

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lewiston ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lake City Timberwolves, sneaking past 8-7. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bengals as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Jenna Barney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over eight innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Barney wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anna Ready, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Darby Litchfield also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Lewiston's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Lake City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4-1 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lake City beat Lewiston by a score of 8-3 later that day.
