Recap: Ayden - Grifton Chargers vs. Greene Central Rams
The Ayden - Grifton Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 44-29 fall against Greene Central. Ayden - Grifton lost against Greene Central in their previous head to head last Wednesday, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 42-35 score last time.
Greene Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but An'nysha Wooten led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Arlisha Mason, who scored 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Ayden - Grifton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Greene Central, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ayden - Grifton will challenge North Pitt at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Pitt presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ayden - Grifton in North Carolina (North Pitt is ranked 16th, while Ayden - Grifton is ranked 541st). As for Greene Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Beddingfield at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Beddingfield will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
