Baseball Recap: Willow Canyon Wins Going Away Against Fairfax

Willow Canyon was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Fairfax on Thursday. The Willow Canyon Wildcats were the clear victor by a 9-2 margin over the Fairfax Stampede. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.

Matt Huff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Ethan Patrick was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Santiago Reyes also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Willow Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.7 runs. Fairfax is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Willow Canyon wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 8-1 loss against Sunnyslope on the 10th. Fairfax will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Alhambra at 6:00 p.m. on March 17th.
