Na'Chauncia Welch and Aniyah Moreno secure win for Armwood

Recap: Armwood Hawks vs. East Bay Indians

The Armwood Hawks came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 43-26 victory over East Bay. Given Armwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while East Bay is ranked 448th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Armwood to victory were Na'Chauncia Welch and Aniyah Moreno. Welch scored ten points along with three steals, while Moreno scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. Moreno has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jenai Whittaker, who scored four points along with two steals.

Armwood has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for East Bay, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Armwood will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Middleton at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th. Middleton is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for East Bay, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Riverview at 6:30 p.m.
