Baseball Game Preview: Mountain View Spartans vs. Wilcox Chargers

For the second straight game, Mountain View will face off against Wilcox. The Spartans will host the Chargers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mountain View 3.3, Wilcox 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Mountain View is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Wilcox just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 6-2 to the Chargers.

Brennan Dooley was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Mountain View saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Shachal, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

The victory (which was Wilcox's seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.
