Baseball Game Preview: San Diego Cavers vs. Mission Bay Buccaneers

The San Diego Cavers are taking a road trip to challenge the Mission Bay Buccaneers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. San Diego is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

On Saturday, San Diego didn't have quite enough to beat La Jolla and fell 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Cavers have lost by just one run.

Meanwhile, Mission Bay started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against La Jolla. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.

Mission Bay saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Jones, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was Jones' first of the season. Owen Oswald was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

San Diego's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10-1. As for Mission Bay, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-4.

San Diego skirted past Mission Bay 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
