Football Recap: La Mirada Matadores vs. La Serna Lancers
La Mirada unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the La Serna Lancers and fell 28-0. If the Matadores were looking for revenge after losing 28-18 to the Lancers when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
La Serna can attribute much of their success to Ella Almonte, who threw for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Lexi Avila also helped with two scores in total.
Coming up, La Mirada will look to defend their home field on Monday against California at 5:00 p.m. As for La Serna, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-19 defeat against La Habra on the 13th.
