Basketball Recap: Belen Jesuit Wolverines vs. Dr. Krop Lightning
There's no place like home for the Belen Jesuit Wolverines, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They secured a 58-52 W over Dr. Krop on Monday.
Belen Jesuit's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Orlando Roche led the charge by scoring 13 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Santana, who scored 14 points.
When it comes to explaining why Dr. Krop lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emmanuel Ferguson. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ferguson has scored all season. Joseph Washington was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Belen Jesuit now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Dr. Krop, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belen Jesuit won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Victors at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Miami Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 21 matches -- so hopefully the Wolverines like a good challenge.
