Softball Recap: New Lisbon Rockets vs. Bangor Cardinals
New Lisbon had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 6-9 to make it five. They lost 12-1 to the Bangor Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in April.
New Lisbon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Ragan, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
As for Bangor, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2. Considering they have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Bangor's side, Abby Langrehr made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Langrehr has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Bangor got a big performance out of Bella Wright, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Jade Robinson was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. New Lisbon will head out to face off against Port Edwards at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bangor, they will venture away from home to take on De Soto at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
