Football Game Preview: Thomas A. Edison Owls vs. Overbrook Panthers

The Thomas A. Edison Owls will face off against the Overbrook Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Thomas A. Edison's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Overbrook has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Last Thursday, Thomas A. Edison was able to grind out a solid win over Vaux Big Picture, taking the game 18-8.

Ahmir Ponder continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 153 yards and a pair of TDs. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 112 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Thomas A. Edison didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Ponder, J'Breel Rogers, and Chris Brooks picked up one apiece.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers on Friday. Overbrook fell 14-6 to Samuel Fels.

Overbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Thomas A. Edison, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.

Thomas A. Edison didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Overbrook when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 16-12 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Panthers' Jineer Fogan, who rushed for 173 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries.
