Holtville's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Central Spartans 3-1. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Ayden Avila made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Avila was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That stolen base was his first of the season.

Avila wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bradyn Terrill, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Luke Chambers also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Holtville's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Holtville will take on Hoover in a tournament on Saturday. As for Central, they will welcome Imperial at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
