Basketball Recap: East Laurens' Run of Seven Straight Victories Now Over

East Laurens easily dispatched Treutlen last Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The East Laurens Falcons fell just short of the Dublin Fighting Irish by a score of 57-55 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Falcons have suffered since February 16, 2024.

When it comes to explaining why East Laurens lost, don't look at Tylan Snead. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 24 points and 17 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Snead a new career-high in blocks (three). Kelvion King was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, East Laurens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Tristian Bell was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 13 en route to 19 points along with eight boards and six assists for Dublin. Another player making a difference was Jahkeem Marion, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

East Laurens moved to 12-3 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak. As for Dublin, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.

East Laurens didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-55 victory against West Laurens on the 25th. As for Dublin, they will challenge Jefferson County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
