Softball Recap: St. Thomas More Comes Up Short

St. Thomas More had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-3 to make it 11. They fell just short of the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes by a score of 4-3. If the Cavaliers were looking for revenge after losing 9-4 to the Blue Dukes when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Whitefish Bay's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 18, 2024.

For Whitefish Bay's part, Abby Fay made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Fay has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jane Wallace was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Thomas More will welcome St. Catherine's at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Whitefish Bay, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Slinger at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
