Basketball Recap: Hiawatha Find Success

Hiawatha hadn't done well against Nemaha Central recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, the Hiawatha Red Hawks made off with a 47-46 victory over the Nemaha Central Thunder. The win was all the more spectacular given the Red Hawks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while the Thunder are ranked 30th).

Hiawatha's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Nemaha Central, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 12-1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hiawatha will host Riley County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Nemaha Central, they will be playing at home against Silver Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
