Softball Recap: Stevens Takes a Loss

Stevens had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 6-20 to make it eight. They fell 10-6 to the Marshall Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-16 back in March.

Sophia Sanchez was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Sofia Solis was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

As for Marshall, with the win, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-16. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

On Marshall's side, Caden Esparza was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Esparza has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Haley Herrera, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

As of now, neither Stevens nor Marshall have any future games scheduled.
