Basketball Recap: Levi Samuel's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Community Christian over Excel Christian Academy

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Community Christian can now relate to. They took a 63-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Excel Christian Academy Eagles on Friday. The Lions' loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Community Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Levi Samuel, who posted eight points in addition to ten blocks and seven boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Hinton, who en route to 20 points and seven rebounds.

Excel Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaiden Ward led the charge by putting up 20 points. Ward's big performance that morning made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points. Another player making a difference was Tristen Hoskins, who had 17 points.

Community Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-21. As for Excel Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season.

Community Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Excel Christian Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 79-44 victory against True North on the 21st.
