Basketball Recap: Donna North Comes Up Short

Donna North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by the Harlingen South Hawks 54-11. While losing is never fun, the Chiefs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1433rd, while the Hawks are ranked 343rd).

It was another big night for Jiselle Montemayor, who went 8 for 13 on her way to 21 points in addition to eight boards and five steals for Harlingen South. Montemayor is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Serena Cano, who posted seven points along with five assists and five steals.

Donna North's defeat dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Harlingen South, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-5.

Donna North will head out to challenge Edcouch-Elsa at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harlingen South, they will welcome Rivera at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
