North Muskegon and Montague are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2022, but likely not for long. The Norsemen will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. North Muskegon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, North Muskegon beat Ravenna 7-4.
The team relied heavily on Bryce Colbert, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Montague waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Orioles as they made off with an 8-2 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Dylan Bailey was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ryver Jarka, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Montague's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for North Muskegon, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. North Muskegon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Montague struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
