Baseball Recap: Archbishop Alter Comes Up Short

Archbishop Alter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Waynesville Spartans. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 7-0.

Thomas Drake made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jake Hemmert, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Archbishop Alter's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Waynesville, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop Alter will venture away from home to challenge Bishop Fenwick at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Waynesville, they will head out to face off against Miami Trace at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
