Softball Recap: Larned Takes a Loss

Larned dropped their record down to 6-7 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Haven Wildcats, falling 17-2. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 13-3 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Haven, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.

For Haven's part, Avery Brawner made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Brawner was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Sophia Faidley was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Ella Bontrager, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Haven beat Larned by a score of 15-5 later that day.
