Herriman has gone a perfect 10-0 against Westlake recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mustangs will face off against the Thunder at 3:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Herriman is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Weber. The win was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on three straight.
Sierra Prescott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Prescott was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.
In other batting news, Herriman got a massive performance out of Aspyn Hawes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Hawes has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ruby McQueen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI.
Herriman hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Westlake got the win against Skyridge on Friday by a conclusive 17-11.
Herriman's victory bumped their record up to 25-4. As for Westlake, their win bumped their record up to 17-11-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Herriman hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Westlake struggles in that department as they've averaged .400. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Herriman was able to grind out a solid victory over Westlake when the teams last played back in April, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
