Basketball Recap: Parker Kines Key Part of a Team Effort in Warriors Win

Wheatmore hadn't done well against Trinity recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Wheatmore Warriors came out on top against the Trinity Bulldogs by a score of 52-42. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 93-45 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.

Wheatmore's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Parker Kines led the charge by going 6 of 11 on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Finley Bryant, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 14 points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Wheatmore was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity only racked up seven assists.

Trinity lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nazir Staton, who posted 18 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zy'Iveon Holmes, who had 16 points.

Wheatmore's record is now 4-5. As for Trinity, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheatmore and Eastern Randolph will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wheatmore is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.1 points per game this season. Trinity will take on Uwharrie Charter Academy in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Uwharrie Charter Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Trinity surely won't give up without a fight.
