Baseball Game Preview: Monmouth Academy Mustangs vs. Washington Academy Raiders

The Monmouth Academy Mustangs will face off against the Washington Academy Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Monmouth Academy comes in on seven and Washington Academy on five.

Monmouth Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Mount Abram 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted against the Roadrunners since June 12, 2021.

Meanwhile, Washington Academy owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They skirted past Dexter 1-0. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Raiders have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Not much got past Trevor Shimabukuro, who gave up just six hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Dexter off the board. Shimabukuro has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Washington Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Gardner, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Washington Academy's victory bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Monmouth Academy, their win bumped their record up to 16-5.
