Preview: Martinsburg Bulldogs vs. Princeton Tigers
Martinsburg is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Princeton is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Martinsburg Bulldogs will take on the Princeton Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
With a playoff game on the line, Martinsburg rose to the challenge on Saturday. They blew past the Highlanders 49-26. Considering Martinsburg has won ten matchups by more than 22 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Princeton faced Bridgeport in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Princeton narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Bridgeport 73-70.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Princeton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chance Barker, who threw for 503 yards and eight touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominick Collins, who gained 349 total yards and five touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Martinsburg to 12-0 and Huntington to 11-2.
Everything came up roses for Martinsburg against Princeton when the teams last played back in September of 2016 as the squad secured a 60-0 win. Will Martinsburg repeat their success, or does Princeton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
