Recap: Valmeyer Pirates vs. Maryville Christian Lions
The Valmeyer Pirates had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 54-41 win over Maryville Christian on Thursday. For Valmeyer, this counts as revenge for the 56-46 defeat Maryville Christian walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Logan Schwenk and Jayden Huff certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Schwenk dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Huff scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Huff has scored all season.
Valmeyer's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8. As for Maryville Christian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 13 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.
Valmeyer will look to defend their home court on Monday against St. Pius X at 7:00 p.m. As for Maryville Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bunker Hill at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Bunker Hill will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
