Elliot Christian had to start their season on the road two weeks ago, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Stockton Christian.
Despite their defeat, Elliot Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jeremy Nielsen, who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Jayden Gaither, who scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 blocks.
Meanwhile, Vanguard College Prep struggled with assists on Tuesday (Big Valley Christian had 1800% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Vanguard College Prep was beaten by Big Valley Christian 99-31. Vanguard College Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-20.
Despite the defeat, Vanguard College Prep saw an underclassman step up: Gustavo Mora scored 16 points. Michael Muriithi was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
Elliot Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Vanguard College Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Elliot Christian came up short against Vanguard College Prep in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 62-52. Can Elliot Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
